Is Fantasy better than Reality?

Fantasy is its own world, it’s where you can escape your thoughts and just imagine how you want them to be. In the world of fantasy can believe in anything you want, and fairy tales do come true. But in all truth reality is the real world or better yet; life. With reality comes sadness, happiness, strength, weakness, and the world doesn’t care how you handle it. The real world is harsh and can bring you down to your weakest points. Reality is the emotional rollercoaster of growing up. Both worlds contrast each other greatly, and show a side of what people hope and dream vs. what people get and try to get out of. In the novel the Secret life of bees, Lilly Owens sometimes put herself in the fantasy world, when she would think about what her and her mom would be done now, or when she was thinking about Zach and if he shared the same feelings as her about him. But she also was faced with many challenges in life with dealing with T.Ray and running away from home to find the answers about her mother. They caused her to change in all reality by having her grow up and learn. Reality doesn’t have to be negative its all how you handle it, but most people would take the easy route by dreaming or wishing about it rather than trying to experience it and face the reality of situation. I believe that fantasy is easier to face, but many people get caught up in that world too much and don’t want to face reality. They want to stay in their own world where all their impossible dreams come true. In order to learn you must learn the difference between fantasy and reality and know that they one world can never come true and the other is something you have to deal with no matter what life throws at you.

Is fantacy better then reality???

I think that fantacy is better then reality because then you can dream up what ever you want. Lily enjoys being in her fantacy world rather than face the truth of the reality. Rosaleen warns her about getting caught up in her fantacy world but Lily doesn't listen. She enjoys live with her new story instead.

Do you feel sometimes fantisy is better than reality?

Sometimes I feel that fantisy is better than reality, because in fantisy you can pretty much fantisize on anything you want or anything you feel. But when it comes to reality all the things you want to fantisze or dream of dont come true, unless a miracle happens. But most of the time when you fantisize it makes you happier than reality its self.

Do you think that the death of June and the death of Lilly’s mother, creates a parallel between Lilly and May??

I feel that May and Lilly are comparable whether it’s because of the loss of a loved one or just because they contrast so nicely. Lilly tends to show the strength of women and people in general. Through her loss Lilly finds strength and hope, she succeeds where others would fail do to her determination and will. However May symbolizes human frailty, and weakness. She had taken on all the problems of the world and gave up on doing her part to fix it. I feel she losses her place in the world when June died and never really finds it again. May allows her grief to become weakness not strength. So the two are similar in their loss but not in the way they handle things.

Do you feel that sometimes fantasy is better than reality?
I feel that fantasy presents an escape from reality. Sometimes our thoughts and hopes of what happened are better than the truth of what was or is. We always must come back to reality and once the truth is revealed you cannot go back to not knowing it. I know some times it feels like it would be better to live on dreams than reality to pretend that the whole world is lying to you, but honestly that’s no way to live. It’s not living if you never put your dreams into actions.

Is Rosaleen a mother figure?

In my eye's Rosaleen is not a motherly figure to Lily. Yes, Rosaleen cares for Lily alot, but i just cant picutre her becoming a motherly figure. When Lily and Rosaleen ran away, Rosaleen should of took control and went and talked to people and everything. She shouldn't of just sat there and spit in her snuss jug. It just shows to me that i dont think Rosaleen is mature enough to be a mother, if anything just a bigger sister THAT'S IT!!!

Is Rosaleen a mother figure to Lily???

I think that Rosaleen was put in the story to be a mother figure to Lily. She trusts Rosaleen and she will do anyhting for her which is displayed when Lily breaks her out of the hospitol so they can run away together. I don't think Lily would have run away if she couldn't have taken Rosaleen with her. T.Ray is not a very good father so i think its good that she has someone to be her mother figure and maybe someday she will find her mother and she too will love Rosaleen.
